Did you know?
Tinga Tinga is the name of the art-works and handicraft items which are produced in Tinga Tinga Arts Cooperative (TACS) based in Dar Es Salaam Tanzania. It was established by relatives of Edward Tingatinga in 1990, an artisan born in South Tanzania around 1936. Late in his life, in 1968, he started painting colorful canvas, which became very popular among expatriates in Tanzania. Today, the original art style has spread outside Tingatinga's relatives; hundreds of painters reproduce Edward Tinga Tinga paintings' style: sinuous forms, vibrant enamel colours, zebras, elephants, gazelles sharing harmonically wildlife scenes on small and large canvases together with wild African flowers and long-tailed birds. Become a proud owner of a Tinga Tinga piece of art today!
