Artist of the month Omary Adam Allyys
Born in 1956 in Dar Es Salaam Tanzania, Omary Adam Allyys is the most experienced of the painters in the Tinga Tinga Cooperative Art Society. He started to paint as an apprentice to Tingatinga artist Rahidi Milanzi in 1973 at the age of 17.
His paintings are composed of fine lines featuring a very precise brush stroke and which combines great technical quality with a vivid creativity. As one of few teachers of the TingaTinga styles of painting he now passes on his superior knowledge. His favorite motive is the giraffe.
